Some students have run into problems in their lives, from legal to mental health to administrative actions.  First, it is best to discuss these with your Prehealth advisor as to the best approach.  You should also be open and honest if there are legal issues or if you have administrative actions on your record.  Admissions committees understand that people make mistakes, but it is up to you to take responsibility and demonstrate that you learned from that mistake.  If you lie or hide information and it is discovered later, the school can reject you, even if you have already been admitted.

Schools are not allowed to ask about details surrounding medical or mental health issues or forced leaves of absence.  It is up to the student to decide to disclose or how much they would like to disclose.  This can be a difficult decision to make and students are encouraged to discuss this option with their Prehealth advisor (if the student feels comfortable doing so).
